First Time Home Buyer Tax Credit Extended for Troops Overseas

The $8,000 first time home buyers tax credit is extended until November 30, 2010 for members of the military who have served overseas at least 90 days during 2009 and who are otherwise eligible. The credit also is extended for Foreign Service and intelligence personnel deployed overseas this year. Some soldiers and their families may have missed out on the credit, if not extended, while serving overseas when it originally was being offered.
The bill extending the credit for military personnel also prohibits the IRS from recapturing the $8,000 credit when service members must sell or rent out their homes if ordered to deploy to a different duty station within the US or overseas.

Officials from Pathway Communities and the city of LaGrange participate in a Ribbon Cutting ceremony celebrating Pathway’s new community Homecoming in LaGrange.
With homes from the mid-$100′s – $200′s, Homecoming will offer a hometown atmosphere and amenities including a Jr. Olympic pool with slide, kiddie pool with mushroom water feature, playground, clubhouse, lighted tennis courts, parks, and boat and RV storage.

Piedmont Fayette Hospital Named Among Nation’s Top 100

Piedmont Fayette Hospital has again been named one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals. The hospital received the same honor from Thompson Reuters in 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007. Piedmont Fayette Hospital has received the recognition more than any other hospital in Georgia, according to hospital officials.
Hospitals were evaluated on medical complications, patient safety, expenses, average length of stay, patient satisfaction, mortality, and profitability. Additional criteria included adhering to clinical standards of care, post-discharge mortality, and readmission rates for heart failure, acute myocardial infarction, and pneumonia.

Will Rippeto is Fayette Board of Realtors 2009 Good Neighbor

Will Rippeto of The Home Source, REALTORS® is the recipient of the first Fayette Board of Realtors Good Neighbor award.
Will counts among his many civic activities membership in the Loyal Order of the Moose, for which he serves as 2010 Moose International Georgia Deputy Supreme Governor. He is a founding member of the Georgia Moose Legion Clown Troupe which is dedicated to bringing cheer to hospital patients and nursing home residents.
Will also is a member of Coweta 60 Masonic Lodge and Yaarab Shrine Temple, and he participates with the Special Olympics. In addition, he visits nursing homes to conduct bingo games, and works with his Moose lodge to recognize and support public safety departments.

Karin Davis Attends Georgia Association of Realtors Convention

Karin Davis of The Home Source, REALTORS® Coweta office in Newnan was among members of the Newnan-Coweta Board of Realtors who attended the Georgia Association of Realtors (GAR) convention in Charleston recently. The three-day event, attended by some 400 Realtors, included educational programs and a special recognition dinner. Karin is a state director for the Newnan-Coweta Board of Realtors.

Home Source, REALTORS® Participate in Great America Cleanup

Volunteers from The Home Source, REALTORS® Coweta office in Newnan helped pick up roadside litter along Lower Fayetteville Road as part of Newnan Beautiful’s recent Great America Cleanup. They were among more than 200 participants who cleaned along various streets in Newnan followed by a picnic lunch served at City Hall. Among Home Source volunteers were (L-R) Jenny Turner, Linda Huff, Verkina Parrish, Chris Hunt, Audrey Galloway, Melodi Hicks, Pam Rineer, Jay Davis, and Kristen Cunningham.
